Create a calendar and store it on your computer or on the network/server so you can remotely access it and share it with others; create tasks and events; view and manage your tasks and events; use filters to see only certain events and tasks on the calendar; export and sync calendars; load calendars that others made; invite friends to events; manage your daily to-do list. These are the main features you can expect to get from Lightning.

Lightning is a Mozilla product. And more to the point, it is an add-on for Thunderbird, Mozilla’s cross-platform email and news client, and for SeaMonkey, Mozilla’s open source and cross-platform internet suite. It must be added here that Lightning is available for Windows, OS X, and Linux. It must also be added that Lightning is available in some 50 languages.

The Lightning add-on tightly integrates into Thunderbird. You’ll see two buttons in the upper right hand corner on Thunderbirds interface; one for the calendar tab and another for the tasks tab. Use these two buttons to view your calendar, add new events and tasks to your calendar, manage existing events and tasks, and so on.

Lightning, just like all other Mozilla products, is freeware.

Better organize your life, stay on top of and efficiently manage your events and tasks with Mozilla’s Lightning, a calendar add-on for Thunderbird and SeaMonkey.

Pros

Lightning is a cross-platform application; it is available for Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux. Lightning is iCalendar compatible. Lightning provides support for 50 languages. Cons

None that I could think of. Tip Make sure Lightning is compatible with your Thunderbird version. Click here to access a webpage that provides an overview of what version of Lightning is compatible with what version of Thunderbird.
